A Ride Through the Country

After work today Jonny and I took a little ride through the country and found yet another great old house. This one actually had a For Sale sign in front of it! There were still curtains in the widows and chairs on the porch. There's so much to see at this old house that I'll definitely have to do more posts here. I don't have too much interested to talk about, so I'll say goodbye for now. Talk soon! :o)

Priscilla Lane and a Smile Award

I first saw Priscilla Lane in Arsenic and Old Lace, staring along side Cary Grant. I thought she was just adorable! Then I discovered she and her two sisters were a popular singing act. A few weeks ago I had TCM on in the back round, like I do most days, and I heard that sweet little voice. The movie was Million Dollar Baby. Million Dollar Baby was so much fun and Priscilla was so darn enchanting that Jonny even sat down and watched the entire film with me! About a week later I watched Dust Be My Destiny, also staring John Garfield. Another thoroughly entertaining film, if you ask me! After reading a bit about Priscilla I discovered she really wasn't know for much other then playing the girlfriend or somebody's daughter. She retired in 1948 after making 22 films. All of which I hope to see someday!

Also, I received a smile award from the sweeter then sweet Maria of Lulu Letty! I just discovered her blog a couple weeks ago and it's definitely one of my favorite reads. She gave me this award alongside Meaghan of Left Hand Endeavor. She had no idea Meaghan and I had met and are great friends! So, that's pretty neat! Thanks so much Maria!

Her pictures are dreamlike and her outfits are so sweet! Thanks girls for always putting a smile on my face! :o)

Ghost Town...

Yes, another rundown building. I'm just having too much fun using them in photos! Anyway, today was a delightful Sunday! We went to a local funky beach town and enjoyed walking around stopping at bookstores and coffee shops. I had the greatest lunch ever at an organic cafe! On the way home we stopped at a junk store and I was thrilled to find a dress form. I've been looking for one for ages and they were always too pricey or too big. This one is just perfect! I can't wait to use it to display my Etsy clothes! I'm also almost done with season 1 of Mad Men. Is it just me, or does this show just get better and better?! So long for now!

Around the Corner

Around the corner from our home is this great old building. I'm not quite sure what it used to be, but it's quite close to the train tracks. Maybe it was an old storage building?! Since moving down south (south from Maine anyway) I've discovered so many great rundown places to take pictures at! I guess in Maine if a place got abandoned they used everything for firewood, since it's so darn cold up there. I talk like I lived in Maine my whole life, haha! Nope, I'm a Maryland girl through and through.

I hope everyone is having a nice week so far! I'm off to watch the second disk of season 1 of Mad Men. I'm loving it!!!

New in the shop this week I have four lovely dresses! I'm crazy about every one of them! First is a lovely little black dress from the 50s, a 40s day dress, a classic 60s dress and my favorite of all a 40s gingham dress.

In My Sunday Best

Today after church Jonny and I took a drive to this wonderful old church. I pass it everyday on the way to work and like to stop whenever I can. It's beautiful, isn't it?!

The suit I'm wearing is a very recent find. It's from the 1940s and it was in pretty rough shape when I found it. It only cost me $8 though, so I'm not complaining! I always get so excited when I find pieces from the 40s that fit just right! I hope everyone is enjoying the last bit of their weekend! The weather has been so perfect around here! Nice and cool at night and in the 70s during the day. I love September!

Mad for Plaid

I know I'm not the only one who's mad for plaid! I recently got this dress in the mail from Lauren with the shop on Etsy, Dear Golden Vintage. She knew that I was looking crazily for a little plaid dress and was kind enough to show me this little number, that she was gonna keep for herself. Thanks so much Lauren, I love it! I don't think I'll ever have enough plaid dresses! I have this little dress to thank for my obsession! Yes, I'm talking bout you Meaghan, hehe!
