Gatsby Wedding!

Hi Everyone!  I just found out the other day that I will be going to my cousins wedding in May. I'm super excited because he is having a Gatsby themed wedding!  So, I'm on the lookout for the perfect Gatsby dress.  I have a good idea of what I would like, but finding it will be a different story.  I'm absolutely in love with Francesca's gorgeous yellow dresses!  Also, this fantastic blue ruffle dress from the 1920's.  Unfortunately the dress is too fragile to be worn :o(
Another reason I'm super excited for this trip is because I will be stopping in New Orleans on the way!  I've always wanted to go to New Orleans and I'll be staying for two nights.  Yay!  I'm sure I will have some great pictures to share with you after this adventure!

PS: This weekend I'll have some pictures of a dress I just finished making.  I tried to make one similar to the lovely I lost on Ebay the other week.  Until next time!

Lovely Lady!

The lovely Ann Margret has got to be one of my favorite inspirations! The first time I ever saw her was in the movie Viva Las Vegas, no surprise there...hehe. After that I wanted to be her, and not only because she had the affections of Elvis. I wanted her voice, her hair, her style, everything! Yes, when I was a teenager I even had long red hair. When I was 15 my family took me to see her in person in the play The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. When she came out onstage I was laughing and crying all at once. I couldn't believe she was right there! Then, when I was looking through my binoculars to get a closer look, Ann Margret looked right at me with a grin on her face! I probably stuck out like a sore thumb in my hot pink dress. Anyway, I didn't have the guts to look through my binoculars the rest of the night...haha. So if you have yet to discover Ann Margret you must! She's in every kind of film from Bye Bye Birdie to Grumpy Old Men. :o)

The One That Got Away

I can't tell you how much I love this dress!!! For ten days I looked at it everyday on ebay counting down the seconds that I could make that bid and it would be mine.  Sunday night there I was with 30 seconds left making that bid, it was mine but only for a few more seconds before someone made a higher bid.  As fast as I could I tried to make another bid to keep the dream alive, but there wasn't enough time.  I lost the dress by just a couple seconds!  Sense that night I have been obsessively searching the web for a dress similar.  Sadly nothing comes close to my love for this dress!  If anyone has any information about a dress similar to this please contact asap!  Oh Ebay, I love and I hate you so! :o)

Blue

Hi again! I hope everyone has been well! I had a good break, which included getting new auctions ready for ebay and lots of blog reading.  This is what I wore yesterday to go see The Reader with Jonny.  I liked the movie very much, though it wasn't the most uplifting film.  The past few weeks I have been trying to see as many Oscar nominated films as possible, so I'm very excited for the awards tonight. Today, I have yet to get out of my pajama's.  At the moment I have a loaf of maple oat bread in the oven, that I can't wait to have along with a cup of peppermint tea.  Unfortunately we are awaiting yet another foot of snow, which is supposed to start any minute.  It seemed for a few days at least that spring was near, but living up north I should know better.  I'm seriously thinking of moving to the south!  Liebemarlene here I come!!  Have a lovely week everyone! :o)

Dress: Free People
Boots: Frye

Happy :o)

I know my posts have been kind of random lately, which I think it has something to do with the Winter Blues.  So, I've decided to take a week or so off from blogging.  Not very long really, but worth letting you all know.  I haven't been feeling very inspired to take pictures lately, probably because I feel like I'm wearing the same outfit over and over again.  I just can't wait until spring, when I can wear all of my favorite spring dresses and walk around picking flowers...hehe!  I started this blog back in October, so I haven't really had the chance to take pictures wearing my favorite dresses yet.  I thought I'd leave you with with some pictures that make me happy and make me think of spring! :o)

Talk to you soon!  I promise to have a post that's worth the wait.

A Fun Tag

I've been tagged by the very lovely Ariella of Pearls In Your Hair to do the Fashionista tag! This is a fun one, thanks Ariella!

Describe your personal style?
-Well, it's a combination of things. I guess you could say, girly, quirky, retro and fun.

What are the staples in your wardrobe?
-Dresses, dresses and more dresses! Cardigans, boots, flats, and a good pair of jeans/pants.

What's your signature look?
-Almost everyday I wear a dress. During the winter with tights, a sweater and boots. In the summer with a pair of flats or sandals.

What inspires you most?
-Old movies, magazines, bloggers, and girls I see on the street.

Who is your fashion muse?
-I have tons! I'll go in order of theirs pictures below. Jean Seberg, Zooey Deschanel, Blair from Gossip Girls, Clara a fellow blogger, Audrey Hepburn, Scarlett Johansson, Michelle Williams and her adorable little girl Matilda and Chuck from Pushing Daisies.

Favorite purchase of all time?
-Probably my Betsy Johnson wedding dress. It's lovely, and the best part is I can still wear it.

Biggest splurge?
-I seem to spend the biggest bucks on boots. I do live in Maine though, so they're very necessary!

What's your beauty routine?
-Not much I'm afraid. I wear Aveeno Positively Radiant with SPF 15 everyday. When it comes to makeup none really, though I do have to have lipgloss on at all times.

What jewelry do you never take off?
-My wedding ring, my engagement ring and my yellow bangle, it's made of bakelite and it's from the 1930's.

What are you wishing for?
-Everything from Built by Wendy's spring 2009 collection, especially the little white ruffle dress! I already told Jonny that's what I want for my birthday, my birthday isn't until June though...haha! Also I'm on the lookout for a vintage bathing suit.

What are your obsession?
-Vintage clothes, movies, reading, sewing, chocolate, my hair and of course Elvis.  ;o)

I'm tagging:

H&M Sailor Girl

Today I was delighted when Jonny surprised me with a trip to H&M.  I went in with the intention of getting just a purse, but I spotted these high-waisted sailor pants, and had to try them on.  Then on the way to the dressing room I spotted this fantastic striped sweater, so I had to try that on of course!  Jonny loved the outfit so much I didn't even have to ask if I could get both.  I rarely wear pants, but when I do they have to be three things: high-waisted, wide legged and they must have sailor buttons. :o)

Everything is H&M
